Closure

Closure is a very essential part of a well-organized and planned lesson. A lesson's closure allows both teachers and students to reflect on meaningful learning experiences,  allows learners to exhibit their understandings and misunderstandings regarding important content, concepts, and skills, and teachers the opportunity to formatively assess their students and further guide/differentiate their instruction. Please see the examples below for key tools that may be utilized and implemented during lesson closures with a 3rd Grade Mathematics Class.

Tool to determine what students know and understand.-Mastery Connect
Mastery Connect is a tool that I use frequently to determine what knowledge students have acquired and to determine their understandings as related to 3rd Grade Mathematics. Mastery Connect provides instant feedback to my kiddos and myself...regarding areas of need and areas of success. Students are able to complete quick formative assessments, and are provided with instantaneous, formative feedback regarding their academic areas of growth, success, and need. In addition, I am able to use that feedback to identify learning themes and commonalities in student learning in order to further guide my instruction and remediation...if and when it's needed. This tool was selected because it is perfect for our student population as it allows us to address needs quickly and effectively! Please see the video and link provided for further information regarding this amazing application!
