Provide an explanation for your choice of tool including the characteristics and features that had the greatest impact on your decision.
I selected this video on adding and subtracting fractions because I think it provides a great introduction to adding and subtracting fractions with common denominators. The video includes key vocabulary, fractions along with pictorial representations, thorough step by step directions, and opportunities for students to view more than one example for both adding and subtracting fractions. In addition, I find this video to be appealing and engaging for my students.

Provide a reflection on your experience creating the interactive video.
I found the experience of creating an interactive video to be extremely beneficial. I find the interactive video option to be an excellent tool for keeping students engaged, for identifying key points in learning, for assisting students in being active participants in the learning process, for allowing students the opportunity to be reflective of their own learnings/understandings, and for providing teachers with necessary formative data to make further instructional decisions. My mindset while creating this video was from the viewpoint of how I would introduce a lesson on adding and subtracting fractions with common denominators. I focused on selecting essential information from the video and asking questions that would assist me in determining students' knowledge and understandings...and that would assist students in being reflective and in determining their own learning strengths and needs. This is a brand new tool in my toolbox of tricks...and I plan on utilizing it across the board as a key instructional tool...as it can provide meaningful learning experiences in all academic areas and can provide formative data to further guide instruction and learning.
